Review
Web Translator is a multilingual translation utility for Windows. This application makes is possible to translate a webpage from and to English, French, German, Spanish, Italian, Portuguese, Dutch, Russian, Chinese, Korean and Japanese by making use of up to seven free online translation servers such as Lycos, Google translator, Dictionary.com, Yahoo! Babel Fish, etc. This program also features a Unicode viewer that gives us the opportunity to view non-Latin languages. We can compare the results of the translation done by the different servers.
The obtained translations are not professional, but they can give us an idea of what a text is about. Moreover, we need not look in a dictionary for a particular word, but get the whole webpage translated on the go, although sometimes we only get it partially translated.
The program's multilingual user interface is very smart and user-friendly. We can enter a text/sentence/word to be translated, view the results, and edit both of them (change the fonts, color, text alignments, bold, italic, underline), swap translation languages, open the Unicode viewer, and much more. We can evaluate the trial version of this program free of charge for a 15-day period. Web Translator runs under Windows Vista, XP, 2003, 2000, ME, NT, 98, and 95 operating systems. |
